The ward

Presently, the ward consists of 27 beds, predominantly in single and twin rooms and in some four bed rooms. On average patients stay about six days. Of the 1,400 patients treated here per year not all suffer from cancer but some from general internal diseases.

In order to make our patient’s stay as pleasant as possible and to create an atmosphere of ease and comfort, the Austrian artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser was asked to design the ward in 1992.
Apart from comfortable patient rooms the ward has a “winter garden” that serves as lounge and patients also have their daily buffet breakfasts there. Adjacent to the winter garden there is a roof terrace that can be used as outdoor meditation area. Dishes especially designed for patients and colorful bedclothes only underscore our efforts to provide our patients with individual and holistic treatment.

To a great extent the inimitable “Hundertwasser” ambience contributes to the comfort of our patients and families. The organization of the daily routine is largely adapted to the needs of our patients. The maximum possible cheerful, pleasing and homelike setting for our patients is our aim!
